The World Health Organization’s Definition of Generic Drugs

Below is a link to the WHO’s definition of generic drugs. They give a background of what generic drugs are and how they are related to their brand name counterparts.

They have an interesting statement regarding the belief that competition between generic and brand name drugs has been more effective at lowering the cost of drugs than negotiations between drug companies would be. They also note HIV/AIDS drugs support this point.
