This blog is dedicated to informing consumers of the differences and similarities between Generic and Brand name drugs with relation to costs and benefits within drug classes. Generic vs Trade/Brand name drugs was chosen as our “hot topic” because there is so much controversy about using generic versus brand name drugs. Generic drugs are commonly much cheaper than brand name drugs, but the price difference as well as perceived problems with safety have led many to question whether generic drugs are as effective as brand name drugs. We created this blog in hopes to answer some of the questions many readers might have had or thought in reference to choosing between using generic or brand name drugs. This blog is available to educate not only consumers and nurses, but also those in general that are interested in learning about generic and brand name drugs.
